Captain Zachary Holick of Captain Zach's Fishing Charter on Tuesday July guided a crew of four for an early morning fishing adventure around Whitemarsh Island. Our 6-hour inshore trip package gives you the perfect amount of time to explore various fishing spots and try different techniques for targeting fish in Savannah's productive waters. All necessary fishing equipment is provided, and our licensed guide has extensive local knowledge of where fish are biting in each season. Trips start early to take advantage of optimal fishing conditions, and we recommend booking in advance, especially during summer months when availability is limited due to high demand.
Our early morning departure allowed us to hit the water when conditions were perfect – calm seas and active fish. We employed multiple fishing techniques throughout the trip, including trolling, bottom fishing, and casting with lures in the productive waters around Whitemarsh Island. The highlight was landing a solid tripletail, which provided both an exciting fight and a great photo opportunity.
Captain Zach's local knowledge of Savannah's waterways means you'll be fishing the most productive areas based on tides, weather, and seasonal patterns. Our 6-hour trips provide enough time to thoroughly explore different spots and adjust techniques as needed to ensure you have the best chance at a successful day on the water.
Tripletail are one of the more interesting species you can target in Savannah's waters. These ambush predators often float near the surface around structure, mimicking floating debris to surprise prey. During summer months in Savannah, we find them around markers, floating debris, and structure where they can hide and hunt. When targeting tripletail, we use light tackle and precision casting techniques, often sight-fishing when conditions allow.
The fight of a tripletail is memorable – they make powerful runs and put up a strong battle on appropriate gear. Our deep sea jigging and light tackle techniques are particularly effective for enticing these fish to bite. Summer is an excellent time to target tripletail in our waters as water temperatures reach their preferred range.
Our fishing charters accommodate groups of up to six people comfortably on our well-equipped vessel. We provide all necessary fishing gear, licenses, bait, and tackle – you only need to bring personal items like sunscreen, hat, sunglasses, and appropriate clothing for the weather. Trips typically start early morning when fishing conditions are optimal, but we can adjust to meet your schedule.
For your comfort, we have restroom facilities onboard, coolers for your drinks and food, and plenty of shade for breaks between fishing action. Don't forget your camera to document your catches! Our focus is making your day on the water enjoyable, productive, and memorable regardless of your fishing experience level.
